Paloma Legacy PH6 and PH12 Replacements

The older Paloma Legacy heaters, Models PH6 and PH12 have been discontinued many years ago.  The Paloma PH6 and PH12 were both naturally drafting units and came in Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane (LP).  The Paloma PH6 & PH12 models had standing pilot lights and were smaller BTU units good for 1 application at a time.  The Paloma PH6 was listed as 43,800 BTU and the Paloma PH12 was listed as 89,300.

GlobalTowne now carries the Marey gas tankless water heaters and we have 2 models that are similar to the older Paloma heaters for replacements.  We have the Marey GA10 L DP unit and a Marey GA16 L DP unit.  These Marey units ignite using 2 - D cell batteries and require no power. The Marey gas tankless come in either NG or LP gas.  Below are the specifications for the Marey replacement model for each of the older Paloma heaters.

Ariston GL6 Plus Thermostat Retrofit Kit

Bosch Thermotechnology has recently stopped manufacturing the thermostat #65150322 (prior part #994102) for the older Bosch Ariston GL6+ & GL8Ti electric mini-tank water heaters.

Bosch has just released a Bosch Ariston GL6+ Thermostat Retrofit Kit #7738006447 that comes with new plastic face pieces, heating element, anode rod, gasket and bolts and thermostat that will turn the older GL6 Plus or GL8Ti into a new Bosch Tronic 3000T ES8.

Ariston GL2.5 - GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit

Bosch Thermotechnology has recently stopped manufacturing the thermostat #65105602 (prior part #994062) for the older Bosch Ariston GL2.5 and the GL4 electric mini-tank water heaters.

Bosch has just released a Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit #7738006446 that comes with new plastic face pieces, heating element, anode rod, gasket and bolts and thermostat that will turn the older GL2.5 or GL4 into a new Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 or Bosch Tronic 3000T ES4, respectively.

Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit #7738006446

The Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit can be used whenever there is an older Ariston GL2.5 or GL4 that needs a replacement thermostat.

Some Ariston GL2.5 and GL4 users are unable to simply replace their older electric mini-tank water heaters with the newer Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 and ES4 units due to the slightly larger depth of the newer water heaters. The Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 is .5" deeper than the older Ariston GL2.5 and the Bosch Tronic 3000T ES4 is 1.25" deeper than the older Ariston GL4.

Also, the Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit #7738006446 is less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

The Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit cannot be used for the older Ariston P10S/P15S mini tank heaters.  Customer with these older model heaters will have to purchase a new Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 or ES4.

Bosch Powerstar AE Canada Kit Discontinued

Bosch has recently discontinued manufacturing the Bosch PowerStar AE Canada Kit for PowerStar AE125 / RP27PT / WH27.  The Bosch PowerStar AE Canada Kit for the PowerStar AE125 / RP27PT / WH27 is a 6 way terminal block for use when installing the AE125 in Canada.

Please be aware that the only whole house Bosch electric tankless water heater that is currently approved for installation in Canada is the Bosch Tronic 5000C WH36.  The WH36 requires a 180 amp breaker.

Bosch Therm Outdoor Vent Kit (BTOK)

GlobalTowne carries the Bosch Therm Outdoor Vent Kit (BTOK) #7736502448 and this outdoor vent kit will enable some of the indoor Bosch gas tankless water heaters to be installed outside.  Please be aware this outdoor installation should be in areas that only experience occasional ambient freezes. 

The white BTOK Outdoor Vent Kit is designed to work with the following current Bosch Therm and Greentherm Tankless Water Heaters with white covers: Bosch Therm C1210ESC, Bosch Therm C1210ES, Bosch Greentherm C1050ES, Bosch Greentherm C950ES, Bosch Therm 940ES, and Bosch Therm 830ES. The BTOK Outdoor Vent Kit does not come with built-in Freeze Protection as these heaters come equipped with Freeze Protection.

GlobalTowne would like to announce that the Ariston thermostat #65150322 for the Ariston GL6+ has been discontinued.  This thermostat was good for Ariston models GL6+ and GL8Ti.  GlobalTowne still has some stock of these thermostats but when they are gone there is no replacement available.  Bosch is currently putting together a retrofit kit with the manufacturer and would include the new GL6+S/ES8  thermostat #87387044420, new element, anode rod, cover and temperature control knob.  This retrofit kit is still under discussion and Bosch will announce the decision soon if they are going with the new kit.

Maximum Inlet/Outlet Temperatures for Stiebel Eltron Tempra Plus Electric Tankless

Stiebel Eltron manufactures a variety of whole house electric tankless water heaters.  The Tempra B and Tempra Plus units are designed to supply hot water for a house, apartment or certain commercial applications. Unlike a conventional storage type water heater the Tempra tankless water heater does not store hot water. Instead, water is heated instantaneously as it flows through the unit. The Tempra offers greater energy efficiency than storage type water heaters due to the absence of stand-by losses and reduced hot water pipe runs.

The Stiebel Eltron Tempra B and Tempra Plus units can accept pre-heated inlet water up to 131 degrees and have a maximum output temperature of 140 degrees F.  The Tempra units have a built in sensor that detects the incoming and outgoing temperatures and adjusts itself electronically.  The Tempra Plus units also have a setting inside the unit and the maximum water temperature can be locked in up to 109 degrees in some situations for safety purposes.

Holding Capacity for Bosch Tronic 3000T ES8

The Bosch Tronic 3000T ES8 is a mini tank heater and is not tankless.  The Bosch ES8 is used for point of use like under kitchen sink, bathroom sink, RV's etc..  The Bosch ES8 is not recommended for a shower as it is a mini tank and will go cold after a few minutes.  Some people do use them in RV's for a shower but will only last for 4-5 minutes then hot water will run out.

The Bosch ES8 can be hooked up to the water plumbing lines 2 different ways.  If the Bosch ES is hooked up with the water connection pipes coming out of the top of the unit vertical the unit will deliver around 7.0 gallons of hot water due to the way the piping inside the unit is.

If the Bosch Tronic 3000T ES8 is hooked up with the water pipe coming out the right side horizontal then the Bosch ES8 will produce around 5.1 gallons of hot water before going cold.

These same specifications and holding capacities also pertain to the Bosch models GL6+, GL6+S, GL8Ti and GL8TiS.

GlobalTowne is almost out of stock on the Bosch GWH425EF LP (Liquid Propane) Gas Tankless Water Heater.  The Bosch 425EF LP is a direct vent tankless water heater designed for 1 major application at a time up to 3.6 GPM.  The Bosch 425EF LP requires power and has electronic ignition and a built in fan for blowing the exhaust gases to the outside. This 425 should be vented horizontal to the outside using 4" diameter single wall stainless steel venting.  This Bosch model 425EF LP is also the direct replacement for the older Bosch 125FX LP.  Supply is limited so order soon.

Bosch Powerstream Flow Switch Part Numbers

GlobalTowne carries most parts for the Bosch gas and electric tankless water heaters.  This information is to confirm the difference between the older flow switch and the newer flow switch for Bosch Powerstream and Powerstream Pro units.  The older flow switch part number 8-738-701-694-0 would be for any Powerstream and powerstream Pro models with a serial number beginning with "31" or less.  The newer flow switch part number 8-738-700-865-0 is for the newer Powerstream and Powerstar units with a serial number of "32" or higher.

Bosch Therm 830ES/940ES/940ESO Gas Tankless Water Heaters

GlobalTowne has just added the Bosch 830ES, 940ES and 940ESO units to our website. The Bosch Therm 830ES and 940ES replaces the older retail units Bosch 2400ES and Bosch 2700ES. The 830ES and 940ES are direct replacements for the older 2400ES and 2700ES.  the only difference is the part number.  The Bosch Therm 940ESO is an outdoor unit and comes with the Bosch Therm Outdoor Kit (BTOK).
