5"-6" Adapter included with Marey GA16ONGDP/GA16OLPDP

Globaltowne is a Marey Authorized Distributor.  We stock most all of the Marey gas tankless water heaters.

The Marey GA16ONGDP (Natural Gas) and the Marey GA16OLPDP (Liquid Propane) units require to be vented vertically up through the roof using 5" type B-vent galvanized exhaust venting.  If the unit is to be installed in elevations over 2,000 ft then the unit should be vented with 6" type B-vent galvanized exhaust venting.

The Marey 16L units come with a 5"-6" adapter on top of the heater for higher elevations.  If the unit is to be vented below 2,000 ft elevation then the 5"-6" adapter can be removed easily and the unit would be vented using the 5" type B-vent.

Pictures below show the 5"-6" adapter that is easily removed off the top of the heater to accommodate the 5" type B-vent.

Paloma Legacy PH6 and PH12 Replacements

The older Paloma Legacy heaters, Models PH6 and PH12 have been discontinued many years ago.  The Paloma PH6 and PH12 were both naturally drafting units and came in Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane (LP).  The Paloma PH6 & PH12 models had standing pilot lights and were smaller BTU units good for 1 application at a time.  The Paloma PH6 was listed as 43,800 BTU and the Paloma PH12 was listed as 89,300.

GlobalTowne now carries the Marey gas tankless water heaters and we have 2 models that are similar to the older Paloma heaters for replacements.  We have the Marey GA10 L DP unit and a Marey GA16 L DP unit.  These Marey units ignite using 2 - D cell batteries and require no power. GlobalTowne carries the Bosch Therm Outdoor Vent Kit (BTOK) #7736502448 and this outdoor vent kit will enable some of the indoor Bosch gas tankless water heaters to be installed outside.  Please be aware this outdoor installation should be in areas that only experience occasional ambient freezes. 

The white BTOK Outdoor Vent Kit is designed to work with the following current Bosch Therm and Greentherm Tankless Water Heaters with white covers: Bosch Therm C1210ESC, Bosch Therm C1210ES, Bosch Greentherm C1050ES, Bosch Greentherm C950ES, Bosch Therm 940ES, and Bosch Therm 830ES. Venting a Bosch Therm 520PN or 520HN into an Existing Chimney

The Bosch Therm 520PN and Bosch Therm 520HN are both naturally drafting gas tankless water heaters and must be vented to the outside using a minimum of a 5" diameter galvanized type B gas vent.  6" diameter type B gas vent is required for all installations over 2,000 ft above sea level.  Under no circumstances should the vent pipe be reduced in size.  There must be a minimum of a 12" rise off the top of the heater before any 45's or 90 degree elbows.  If there is to be a horizontal section before going into the chimney then try and keep it as short as possible.  The maximum horizontal run allowed is half of the total vertical vent height.  45's, 90 degree elbows and any horizontal length is not to be considered in the total gas vent height.

The Chimney the Bosch tankless water heater is venting into must be the only thing going into the chimney.  The galvanized type B gas vent must run all the way up the chimney to an approved rain cap.  The minimum vertical vent height is 6 ft and any horizontal vent connectors or elbows are not to be considered in the total gas vent height.  All gas vent sections of pipe must be screwed together with sheet metal screws and properly supported.  The masonry chimney may have to be tile or metal lined before the insertion of the gas vent pipe.  Consult local codes for proper lining of chimney.  You may not vent any other fuel burning appliances into any free space remaining in the chimney.  Please see the illustration below for venting into the chimney and always follow the instructions listed in the installation manual for the heater.

Z-Vent Stainless Steel Venting for Marey 5L, 10L & 16L Tankless Water Heaters

Globaltowne is a supplier of Z-Flex Stainless Steel Venting material and carries a large variety of sizes ranging from 3" - 24" single wall stainless Steel venting.  Globaltowne can also get 3" - 24" diameter double wall stainless steel venting.  Marey Gas Tankless Water Heaters come in 3 different sizes from a small 5 Liter gas tankless, a 10 Liter gas tankless and a 16 Liter gas tankless.

All venting must be done in accordance with local codes and regulations. Local building codes from city to city and state to state will vary. Some jurisdictions may allow venting material not allowed by other jurisdictions.

All jurisdictions in North America allow for Z-Vent material to be used for venting tankless hot water heaters. The condensation of a tankless water heater is slightly more acidic than that of a standard water heater. Z-Vent is double walled stainless steel vent pipe made specifically for venting tankless heaters. Z-Vent is intended for lifetime use and will never corrode or rust.

Some jurisdictions in North America allow for B-Vent to be used. B-Vent is double walled galvanized vent pipe made for standard water heaters and stove vent pipe. B-Vent is not lifetime material and will eventually corrode after extended use. Before deciding what material to use, you MUST check your local building codes to see what is allowed in your jurisdiction. If you choose to use B-Vent, you MUST check it at least monthly for corrosion and replace vent pipes immediately if corrosion is detected.

Diameter of the vent pipe is 4” for 5L, 4” for 10L, and 5” for 16L units. Use the coupler provided with your unit for installation on the 5L and 10L units. Vent pipe attaches directly to the unit in 16L models.  For the 16L tankless when using the Z-Flex stainless steel venting you may also need a 5" stainless universal adapter and then a 5" single wall to double wall stainless adapter if you are going to use 5" double wall stainless steel venting.

Bosch Wireless Remote Control TSTAT2

The Bosch Wireless Remote Control TSTAT2 for the Bosch AquaStar 2700ES / 2400ES / 2400E / 2400EO / 250SX / 250SXO allows you to program your Bosch tankless gas water heater to a comfortable and safe temperature from around your home from a distance of up to 98 ft.

The TSTAT2 remote is particularly useful if you own a jacuzzi or hot tub that requires a hotter water temperature than you normally desire for regular shower use.

Please note that the electrical control of the Bosch AquaStar 2700ES / 2400ES / 2400E / 2400EO / 250SX / 250SXO must be removed and opened in order to install the wireless receiver circuit board to enable the use of the TSTAT2 Wireless Remote Control.

The Newer Bosch models, 2700ES and Bosch 2400ES tankless water heaters have been redesigned to make the installation of the wireless receiver circuit board much easier. The circuit board is basically a plug and play unit.

The TSTAT2 controls the temperature of your water heater and does not have a reset button.   If the heater has an error then a code will be on the display of the heater and the user has to go to the heater to reset it from there and should document the error and then see if it returns after resetting.

Don't forget to periodically change the two AA batteries in your Bosch wireless TSTAT2 thermostat as they will certainly corrode over time. The batteries in TSTAT2 thermostats that are kept in bathrooms will corrode faster than in other less humid environments, such as kitchens. Your batteries should be checked yearly for any signs of corrosion and replaced every five years in any case.

Bosch Aquastar 125B Water Valve Assembly

The Bosch Aquastar 125B gas tankless water heater was first manufactured back in the late 1980s. The 125B series has since been discontinued and replaced with newer compact models such as the 1600P gas tankless water heater, and later the Bosch Therm 520PN.

When the Bosch Aquastar 125B model first came out, it had a dual port brass water valve and then years later the Bosch Aquastar 125B series heater had a new single port polymer water valve which was much easier to service and maintain.

The replacement water valve for the 125B series heater that had a dual port brass water valve assembly is now a single port polymer watervalve retrofit kit. This water valve assembly retrofit kit is required for any heater with a serial number beginning with 380 or lower. This kit includes new cold and hot water pipes, washers and the single port polymer water valve so that it can be easily installed in the place of the old brass water valve. Gas Tankless in Bedrooms/Bathrooms

All of the Bosch gas tankless water heaters that are naturally drafting such as the 1000P, 1600P and the 1600H take thier combustion air that is needed to fire the heater from the location they are installed in. These heaters can never be installed in a bedroom or bathroom where the door is normally kept closed. This is against the National Fuel Gas Code and is very dangerous as the heater would deplete all of the oxygen in the room and will cause serious illness or death.

Per the National Fuel Gas Code manual, the only exception to having a naturally drafting gas tankless water heater installed in a bedroom or bathroom is if it is installed in a closet that has self closing hinges and that is sealed when it closes as to not take its combustion air from the bedroom or bathroom. The gas tankless water heater in the closet would then have to be able to get its combustion air from another source such as from the main part of the home, the attic area or from the outside. The amount of combustion air required for the gas tankless heater would be determined per the installation manual and vents to other sources of fresh air would have to be sized accordingly.

Direct vent gas tankless water heaters such as the Bosch 2400ES/2700ES are sealed combustion units and have the ability to take the intake air from the outside. These direct vent heaters are the only ones approved to be installed in a bedroom or bathroom. These heaters have a twin pipe system for the exhaust/intake air to the outside. If these heaters are to be installed in a bedroom or bathroom then the intake air for the heater must come from the outside.
