Aquah JSD32-K-LP 16L LP (Liquid Propane) Whole-House Tankless Water Heater

GlobalTowne would like to announce that the new Aquah JSD32-K-LP 16L LP (Liquid Propane) tankless water heater is a close replacement for all the older Bosch naturally drafting units such as the Bosch 125B, 125X, 125HX, 425HN, 425PN, 520PN, 1600P, 520HN and the 1600H.  These units were all naturally drafting and required to be vented vertically up through the roof using a 5" B vent pipe such as the Aquah 16L LP unit does.  The Aquah 16L LP unit is also the replacement for the Marey GA16LPDP unit as it required the same venting, naturally drafting and has the same 1/2" water and gas connections on the bottom.

GlobalTowne is pleased to announce we are now carrying the new Aquah JSD32-K-LP 16L LP (Liquid Propane) Whole-House Tankless Water Heater.  The Aquah JSD32-K will be available in Natural Gas soon.  The Aquah JSD32-K-LP 16L Liquid Propane (LP) model requires two D cell batteries for ignition and has an optional electrical connection. Automatic Electrical Pulse Ignition with No Standing Pilot.  The JSD32-K-LP is the perfect tankless solution for smaller families and households that only use one hot water application at a time.  This unit is good for heating potable water only for domestic hot water use.  Not approved for space heating applications.

This 109,260 BTU/hr maximum input heater has enough power for running a shower. The Aquah 16L has a thermal efficiency of 85%. This unit is for homes with low water pressure and only requires a minimum of 5 psi startup pressure. The 16L will give you endless hot water and only takes a few seconds for the hot water to reach the tap. The Aquah JSD32-K will give a 45 degree temperature rise at 4.23 GPM.  Some of the safety items include: Gas leak and overheating safety control, Flame failure safety device, Incomplete combustion safety device, Anti-dry combustion safety device, Over water pressure protection device, Auto cutoff protection in case of accident. 

The Aquah JSD32-K needs to be vented vertical through the roof for a minimum of 6' using a 5" type B gas vent.  The Aquah JSD32-K "cannot" be vented horizontally out the sidewall, for this application you would need to use a powervent with a proof-draft interlock devise (consult local distributor).  The 16L also has a Summer/Winter control knob for obtaining more stable temperatures at different times during the year.

Tankless Water Heaters versus Tank Water Heaters

Tankless water heaters save money simply because for most of the day the water heater is OFF and not using any energy. Tankless water heaters also last way longer than tanks. Not because they are made of special materials, but rather because for most of the time they are OFF. Tank type water heaters go on and off all day long to keep water hot whether it is being used or not. This is very inefficient and over time it wears out the heating element. When you wake up each morning the pipe between your water heater and your shower is full of cold water. Whether you have a tank or are tankless water heater you still have to push a "slug" of cold water through that pipe before you get hot water. When you had a traditional hot water tank the cold slug of water in that pipe was back filled immediately by the waiting hot water from the tank. Once you have a tankless there is an additional amount of cold water in the tankless water heater that adds to that slug of cold water. The tankless water heater turns on immediately when it senses a hot water demand, but it does take a few seconds to push that extra amount of cold water that is in the tankless water heater's heat exchanger through your pipe. This usually amount to an additional few seconds of wait time before you get hot water out of your shower head. Once you start receiving that hot water in your shower you get to enjoy an endless amount of hot water. And you can have person after person in your household take consecutive showers without ever having to worry about running out of hot water. In contrast, tank type hot water heaters have a fixed volume and once the tank has been emptied of hot water the household has to wait for the volume of water in the tank to be reheated. This can take 1/2 hour or longer depending on the volume of the water tank. All of this explains why new "tankless" hot water heaters do not produce "instantaneous" hot water at your tap. The distance from your tankless hot water heater to your tap determines the time it will take for hot water to come out of the tao. One thing that you should notice however, is that once you have used your tankless water heater if you use it again soon thereafter you should get hot water almost immediately. This is because the pipe is now full of a hot water "slug" instead of a cold water "slug".

Paloma Legacy PH6 and PH12 Replacements

The older Paloma Legacy heaters, Models PH6 and PH12 have been discontinued many years ago.  The Paloma PH6 and PH12 were both naturally drafting units and came in Natural Gas (NG) or Liquid Propane (LP).  The Paloma PH6 & PH12 models had standing pilot lights and were smaller BTU units good for 1 application at a time.  The Paloma PH6 was listed as 43,800 BTU and the Paloma PH12 was listed as 89,300.

GlobalTowne now carries the Marey gas tankless water heaters and we have 2 models that are similar to the older Paloma heaters for replacements.  We have the Marey GA10 L DP unit and a Marey GA16 L DP unit.  These Marey units ignite using 2 - D cell batteries and require no power. The Marey gas tankless come in either NG or LP gas.  Below are the specifications for the Marey replacement model for each of the older Paloma heaters.

Some Ariston GL2.5 and GL4 users are unable to simply replace their older electric mini-tank water heaters with the newer Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 and ES4 units due to the slightly larger depth of the newer water heaters. The Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 is .5" deeper than the older Ariston GL2.5 and the Bosch Tronic 3000T ES4 is 1.25" deeper than the older Ariston GL4.

Also, the Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit #7738006446 is less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

The Bosch Ariston GL2.5/GL4 Thermostat Retrofit Kit cannot be used for the older Ariston P10S/P15S mini tank heaters.  Customer with these older model heaters will have to purchase a new Bosch Tronic 3000T ES2.5 or ES4.
